I was extremely hesitant to pay this much for a razor. I have only had Philips Norelco 1280X/47 SensoTouch for about a month but it is the closet shave I have had in a while. I can safely say that this was well worth the expense. I take about three minutes to do a full shave, which, compared with before, is incredible.

My last two razors were also Norelco and they did a pretty good job but I have a thin face with some angles that were difficult to get a close shave. Just under my chin was one area and this Philips Norelco 1280X/47 SensoTouch razor does a very good job there as well as the neck.

What Philips Norelco 1280X/47 I like:

• Of all the rotary razors I've owned over the years, this one gives the closest, smoothest shave by far. It's the only electric razor I've tried that even remotely meets the claim "shaves closer than a blade."
• The beard trimmer cuts closer and with fewer nicks than with my previous shaver models.
• The battery charges very quickly and with the LED display, you know exactly how much shaving time you have left. One minute on the charger gives you one minute of shaving time.
• It's waterproof. I've used it to shave my head both dry and in the shower with a little bar soap and got great results both ways.

What Philips Norelco 1280X/47 I don't like:

• The cleaner / charging dock doesn't seem to do a great job
• I would like to have a traditional plug on the razor, but it's not that big a deal to me.
