The Braun Series 5 550cc Electric Shaver System has performed valiantly, never letting me down! This replaced my Braun shaver which was about ten years old. The old shaver still worked fine,but i had left the charge cord at a hotel and I thought the price for a new cord wasn't worth it.

Feels good in hand with a well put together shaver. Sturdy with easy access to the long hair trimmer on the back of the shaver. The clean and charge station is just icing on the cake as it allows easy charging and hands free cleaning of the shaver after each use. The Braun Series 5-550cc also has the Clean and Renew system unit with them,. This means that the shave comes with its own cleaning kit.

( I like to cycle the battery, yea, I'm old school). And I would be using al lot of cleaning fluid. As it turns out, you have to push the cleaning cycle button to make that part work, otherwise it's just a charging stand when you insert the shaver. I've had the shaver for about a month and have only charged the shaver once since the initial charge. The Braun 550cc Shaver is much quieter than the one it replaced.

Cleaning this Braun Series 5 550cc shaver is extremely easy. Stick it in the clean and charge station and hit start. Plus it lubricates the shaver for you as well. One thing to keep in mind is that the shaver air dries after the cleaning so if you need to shave right away after cleaning you will have problems. Makes a nice night light for the occasional bathroom visit during the night.

One issue I've seen in reading reviews is that it comes out of the cleaning unit still wet. Clean it AFTER you shave; it's a 4 hour cycle. I do, however, take it out and reseal it in-between running cleaning cycles. After the cleaning cycle it's like using a brand new shaver again. It does a great job cleaning around my jawline and neck and does an outstanding job trimming around my goatee.
